How to choose a table base for a round tabletop

A round tabletop needs a base that supports the centre and leaves usable space for chairs. Start with the tabletop diameter, material, thickness and weight. Then mark the intended base footprint and chair positions on the floor before ordering.

1. Measure the tabletop first
Record the diameter, thickness, material and weight. A small timber top and a large stone top need different support. Do not judge suitability from appearance alone: compare the chosen variant with its current product dimensions and mounting information.
2. Plan every chair position
Place the chairs around the intended circle and mark the base footprint with masking tape. Check feet, knees and chair legs at every seat. A central or spider base can free the perimeter, but its arms must still remain clear of the chairs.
3. Check support and overhang
The tabletop must not flex or tip during normal use. The safe relationship between top and base depends on the complete assembly, including the tabletop material, mounting plate, fasteners and floor. If the product page does not confirm your combination, send the tabletop measurements before ordering.
4. Calculate the finished height
Finished table height equals base height plus tabletop thickness and any additional spacer not already included. For example, a 72 cm base with a 3 cm top produces a table about 75 cm high. This is an arithmetic example, not a universal recommendation.
5. Verify mounting before drilling
Use fasteners suitable for the tabletop material and available drilling depth. Keep holes away from weak edges and follow the tabletop supplier's instructions, especially for solid wood, glass, stone or compact board. Never copy a screw length from another project without measuring.
Central base or four legs?
A central base usually gives more freedom when chair positions may change. Four individual legs can work well when they remain inside the circular edge without blocking seats. Compare the real footprint, not only the product name.
A practical TopFero option
The Acamar spider table base is available in several sizes, including a 72 × 70 × 70 cm variant. Treat those figures as product dimensions, not automatic approval for every round top. Confirm the complete assembly for your tabletop.
Browse central metal table bases and compare the footprint, height and mounting with your measurements.
